Welcome to Connect Counselling & Psychotherapy

About Tanya

Welcome to Connect! Counselling and psychotherapy have been my passion for more than 20 years. In session, I draw from currents research and evidence-based therapies, as well as years of experience working with people. I understand that sometimes it’s good to laugh and believe that therapy doesn’t have to be unpleasant to be effective. I’ve been described as warm, authentic, and able to put people at ease. I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and if you are interested in learning more about me, my training or how I work, I invite you to book a free 20-minute consultation.

While the field of counselling has evolved over the last twenty years, some things have remained constant. The fit between a therapist and client is extremely important. I often liken finding a therapist to searching for a new pair of shoes. The therapist you choose must be a style and fit that’s comfortable. Just as the shoes must fit your purpose, so must your therapist. You do not want to find yourself on a back-country trail in a pair of heels or dress shoes. With this in mind, you are invited to book a free 20-minute consultation to see if counselling with Connect is a good fit. If not, I am happy to suggest other therapists whose style, background, or therapeutic orientation may better suit your needs.

As a settler on the Territory of Kwanlin Dun First Nation and Ta’an Kwach’an Council, I am aware of the harms resulting from colonization and policies enacted across Canada resulting in cultural genocide. My ability to work, play and raise my family on this land is a direct result of the present and historical injustices experienced by Indigenous Peoples. I aim to understand how my privilege influences how I see and experience the world, and commit to providing a safe and respectful counselling space.
