Welcome to Connect Counselling & Psychotherapy

We’re a team of down-to-earth therapists who bring warmth, experience, and a strong focus on trauma. We support people through the stuck places—the pain, stress, and patterns that get in the way of feeling like yourself. We offer a space to slow down, feel grounded, and begin making meaningful change—at your own pace and in your own way.

Starting is simple

  • Book Free Consult

Taking the first step can feel big—and we’re here to make it easier. Book a free 20-minute phone/video consult to connect with one of our therapists.

  • What to Expect

Your consult is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, answer any questions, and help you decide if we’re a good fit for your needs. You don’t need to prepare—just come as you are.

  • Step into Change

If it feels like a fit, we’ll book your first session and begin the work together. Whether you’re seeking clarity, healing, or change, therapy is a space where growth unfolds one step at a time.

Types of Therapy

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach rooted in neuroscience that helps people process and heal from distressing experiences or trauma by using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping. Rather than talking in detail about the past, EMDR supports your brain in reprocessing painful memories so they feel less intense and no longer get “stuck,” allowing you to move forward with greater ease and resilience. Many people find EMDR effective for reducing symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and other emotional difficulties.

  • DBT combines acceptance and change strategies to help you manage intense emotions, build healthier relationships, and cope more effectively with stress. It’s especially helpful if you experience emotional ups and downs or struggle with impulsivity and self-criticism.

  • CBT helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, so you can challenge unhelpful patterns and develop more balanced, supportive ways of thinking and coping. It’s a practical, goal-oriented approach that works well for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.

  • IFS helps you explore and understand the different “parts” of yourself—like the inner critic, the people-pleaser, or the protector—so you can bring more self-compassion and healing to your inner world. The goal is to help your core Self lead with calm, clarity, and confidence.

  • Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a mind-body approach that helps retrain the brain to interpret chronic pain signals differently—especially when pain is rooted in the nervous system rather than ongoing injury. It empowers you to break the pain cycle and reclaim comfort and ease.

  • NARM is a gentle, body-aware therapy for developmental and attachment trauma that focuses on how early experiences shape your identity and relationships. It helps you reconnect with your sense of self, reduce shame, and shift long-standing patterns of disconnection.

  • Flash is a gentle, trauma-informed approach that helps reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories—often without needing to talk about the memory directly. It can be especially helpful when you're not ready to revisit painful experiences but still want relief.

  • ACT supports you in accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while building a meaningful life guided by your values. Rather than trying to eliminate discomfort, ACT helps you create space for it—so it no longer gets in the way of what matters most.

  • Living with diabetes can take a toll not just on your body, but also on your emotional well-being. As a mental health provider with experience in diabetes care, you are supported in navigating the stress, burnout, and emotional challenges that can come with managing a chronic condition—helping you feel more empowered, less alone, and more connected to your life beyond diabetes.

Respecting the land and its Peoples

As settlers living and working on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, we recognize that our ability to work, play, and raise our families here is made possible through the ongoing impacts of colonization and cultural genocide. We hold deep respect for the strength, knowledge, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples and acknowledge the historical and present-day harms caused by systems we continue to benefit from.

In our counselling practice, we are committed to ongoing self-reflection, unlearning, and creating space that is respectful, culturally aware, and rooted in humility. We strive to honour diverse ways of knowing, being, and healing — and to co-create a space where all clients feel safe, seen, and respected.
